The BSAM (Black Speculative Arts Movement) recently released a set of dates for the upcoming appearance of the international traveling convention. In 2018 #BSAM and MECCAcon will make stops all year long across the country.
As explained through the companies’ website, “Black Speculative Arts Movement, aka BSAM, is a year long Afrofuturism, black comics, film, and arts convention held at multiple colleges, universities, and other venues across the United States and abroad. Co-founded in 2016 by afrofuturism scholar, Dr Reynaldo Anderson, Midwest Ethnic Convention for Comics and Arts – MECCA founder, Maia Crown Williams, the events include presentations and vending from a vast amount of comic creators, scholars, activists, business owners, artists, science fiction creators, musicians, and artisans, as the MECCAcon International Film Festival. Students are also welcome to submit proposals to participate as well. We also heavily encourage schools to attend in groups.”
