We here at BlackSci-Fi.com have a public announcement: If you have an issue with the lack of black lead protagonists in superhero/ big budget super powered folks films, go see Sleight this weekend.
Take a break from movies about dancing beasts and beautys, and cars which drive fast and furious, and SEE THIS MOVIE.
The official synopsis reads: A young street magician (Jacob Latimore) is left to care for his little sister after their parents passing, and turns to illegal activities to keep a roof over their heads. When he gets in too deep, his sister is kidnapped, and he is forced to use his magic and brilliant mind to save her.
Sleight of hand magic, in the vein of Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige? Check.
Possible telekinetic abilities? Check.
A kick butt premise? Double check.
Also why not see a WWE Studios movie that doesn’t involve bad acting by wrestlers, and was also distributed by the studio that gave us Get Out (Blumhouse Productions)?
Spend some money, and go support J.D. Dillard’s indie darling, Sleight starring Jacob Latimore, Seychelle Gabriel, Storm Reid, and Dule Hill.
