Playing The Odds – “Blade Runner” Meets “Rush Hour”

The Story

Remember the first time you saw “Star Wars” or “Blade Runner”? How about “Bad Boys” or “Rush Hour”? Did it ever strike you as odd that many of the most classic sci-fi movies exist in a world without black people, while some of the best comedy/action films of the last three decades were fronted by black people? Why can’t these two genres co-exist AND feature black people? Why hasn’t that happened yet? With “Playing the Odds” – we’re on a mission to fix that.

“Playing The Odds” is a ‘Cyberfunk’ animated series based on the novella of the same name by award-winning author, Milton J. Davis. The story follows Carlos Mejia, a corporate security cyborg who has been living a life of danger and privilege in the United Cites for the last twenty years. But all that changes when he receives a life-altering message. The corporation that employed him and funded his tech has gone bankrupt, and now he has become an asset to be collected and liquidated! Desperate to stay alive, Carlos seeks the help of street hacker, Michelle Carter, in order to dump his tech and become ‘normal’. However, his attempt to disappear uncovers a conspiracy that threatens to set the United Cities on a destructive path . . . unless they can stop it. “Playing the Odds” is “Blade Runner” meets “Bad Boys”, and it’s all the combined awesome we always wanted to see – in one epic animated series.
