In 2016 The State of Black Science Fiction held it’s first convention, SOBSFcon. The purpose of the convention was to bring our members together and share the fellowship, knowledge and fun of the group with other Black speculative fiction fans and provide a safe space for Black speculative fiction fans to enjoy themselves. The convention was so successful that we’ve decided to make it an annual event, Blacktasticon.
The purpose of this Kickstarter is to secure the funds to pay for our venue and provide additional funds for marketing, support materials and bringing in guests that will enhance an already amazing event.
Risks and challenges
It’s our hope that we will raise the funds to secure our venue during this campaign. If not, we will proceed by raising funds through membership sales and vendor table sales.
