Story

Why Fumes?
This comic book is the culmination of years of writing, hoping, and finally manifesting a story I’ve always wanted to tell in a comic book, a visual medium I’ve always held dear. I’ve authored two books in my sci-fi series and included a climate fiction themed sci-fi (or “cli-fi”) story in each one. When I started my journey to create Fumes, I approached a few of the most talented people I know to craft this universe and bring you a story I know you’ll love.

So huge thanks to Greg Burnham, and Tiah and Tahilla Ankum. We pulled a lot of late nights and Snickers-fueled rooftop afternoons bringing this baby to life. We’re happy to announce that we finished the book ahead of this launch. What your support means for us is that we’re one step closer to doing a big print run to kick this series off right.
We’re pretty excited about that and hope you are too.
Why Now?
This is the right time to release this work, but really, there hasn’t been a wrong time in the last few decades since the crises outlined in Fumes hasn’t and isn’t going away anytime soon. In that way, Fumes is simple. It’s based on a theme storytellers have held up to the looking glass for ages: greed and the fight for resources.

And coupled with that, as it always is, is the fight for survival.
People and governments have always fought over land. Once borders were drawn, blood was shed over fertile soil. Next was water. Battles were first waged between tribes, cities and states, then governments, over who would have access and control of waterways. In Fumes, Yeulah learns that the next fight is for Earth’s air.
Risks and challenges
The book has already been completed. There are always risks involved with shipping, but I have already tapped a very reliable printer. So we’ll be looking to get the books out to you ASAP, fresh from the printer.
Fumes is fly loaded but there is still time to pledge and join!
