‘Xmoor’ Reborn Fundraiser

October 12, 2019

Back in May of this year, we reported on the passing of prolific comic book creator, Robert Garrett. He was the writer/ co-creator of the Glyph Comics Award-winning comic book series, Ajala: A Series of Adventures, co-publisher of Xmoor Studios, and creator/ writer of Galtow, Inheritors, Tool-Boi, Hero Born.

Recently Regine Sawyer, owner of Lockett Down Productions, and creator of The Rippers, Ice Witch, and Eating Vampires, set up a fundraiser for continuing the work of her friend, Mr. Garrett. Check the below post for more information.

From the fundraiser: It’s been over 4 months since the loss of my good friend and colleague, Robert Garrett. His passing was a blow to an industry that has been starving for more thoughtful, inclusive, and empowered stories. The blow was also hard and deep to those who knew and loved him; not to mention those who knew him through his many works- Galtow, Hero Born, The Inheritors, 12 Trials, House of Gales, Tool Boi, The Masquerader, Warrior Island, and the multiple Award Winning Ajala.

After having many long conversations with Robert’s equally talented daughter Niya, (his inspiration behind Galtow’s female protagonist Jiya), we decided that it would be a literal crime if we let Robert’s work go to the wayside. His contributions to the Black Comic Book Community as well as the Comic Book Community as a whole was immeasurable and therefore must continue. So with that said, in partnership with my company Lockett Down Productions She and I are Re-launching Xmoor Studios; scheduled for early 2020. In honor of this partnership and more importantly, Robert’s legacy we couldn’t let NYCC 2019 go by without having something special for the show. We are printing a Limited Edition Memorial Book only 100 copies will be available for purchase. This fundraiser will serve to have the books printed, take care of Pre-press costs, and NYCC costs. Essentially, every cent would go towards this labor of love endeavor and will help with the early stages of the Re-launch of the company Robert passed on to his daughter Niya. Help us to continue his legacy, an Xmoor ReBorn!
